Commentaires du Broker
Quite often when I try to get my thoughts onto paper for this part of the website, I spend a fair time reading, looking things up online, seeing what others have said, but in the case of this Westerly Fulmar I came straight to the page and started typing!
The Fulmar is widely thought of as one of the best boats Westerly ever produced – fast, solid, seamanlike, capable and comfortable. Many sea schools used to use them as teaching boats, a testament to the fact that they were the epitome of what a good cruising yacht should be. They made 430 Fulmar 32’s, and just 18 Fulmar 33’s. This yacht is a 32, built in 1984 and launched in 1985. Westerly listened to it’s customers who said they liked a “standard” layout, with a generous quarter berth and conventional saloon and forecabin.
The saloon table could be used by “Strictly Come Dancing” as a spare dance floor, and it features a good bottle store – a high priority for most cruising sailors!
Why the super price? Usual Westerly issues really. She had a survey carried out last year, and it found dampness in the hull, so she needs to have this treated. Her coach roof is a little tired looking, but with some elbow grease and the right product it should come up OK. Her saloon headlinings are fine, but the forepeak one may need a little attention.
She is still a fine yacht, in the same ownership for the past twelve years, and you will be getting yourself a bargain at this price.
I was practically brought up in Westerlys, and it was just like coming home to be aboard this lovely yacht. You really ought to ring me and arrange to come and see her – and if you’ll take my advice, the sooner the better!
