Commentaires du Broker
This little Purbrook Heron 4 ½ tonner is a little gem. She is a solidly built fractionaly rigged, centre board sloop capable of accommodating 2 adults, 3 at a pinch! At first glance she looks longer and beamier than her stated specifications.
Previously owned by the original designer, she has been in her present ownership for about 16 years, during which time she has been immaculately restored and maintained, retaining many of her original features and character. Looking around the boat I struggled to find anything that required immediate attention. Her painted and varnish surfaces including bilge and lockers are all to a very high standard. Despite her modest size, moving around the deck is easy with few hazards. A long keel with a lifting centre board provides stability at sea whilst affording the opportunity for creek crawling in out of the way places
Down below she had cosy feel to her and could be made more so with the addition of some soft furnishings. Her accommodation is comfortable for 2, with plenty of well thought out storage and decent size saloon table which also houses the lifting keel. Her companionway doghouse allows 5’ 6” headroom.
Due to unforeseen personal circumstances, this Purbrook Heron has now been returned to the open market, so if you are looking to own a piece of maritime history, without having to incur the initial high restoration costs normally associated with owning a boat of this vintage, this should be a serious contender. Furthermore, we now have a pre- purchase insurance survey which gives a favorable report on the condition of the vessel.
